Home>What's On>Exhibition: Journeys by Neville Hiatt
Monday, 1 May 2017
to Wednesday, 31 May 2017

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
How much does someone know about your true life journey? Have you been prepared for everything that has happened, or have you found yourself asking for help, or been unable to? Take a moment to travel through the lives depicted in these two series of photographs by Neville Hiatt.

First exhibited at the 2015 Ballarat International Foto Biennale, Journeys I invites the viewer to step inside the story within each frame as well as across the storyline of the whole series. Journeys II – Behind Closed Doors, created for the 2016 Immerse Exhibition Program, narrows its focus in an even more personal way. What stories in your life do people not see when you’re shopping for groceries, being professional at work or smiling in a social group?

Both series are designed to evoke discussion and encourage people to feel more confident in sharing their own journey.

Entry to the exhibition is free.

 MEDEA by Euripides
Tuesday, 16 May 2017
7:30 PM
Presented by Complete Works Theatre Company.

Starring: Carolyn Bock
Direction: Andrew Blackman

It is 431BC in Corinth. Medea lies grief-stricken, discarded by her husband, Jason. Jason has abandoned Medea and their two sons by pledging himself to the daughter of the king of Corinth. Medea turns her grief into action and like a force of nature - with animal-like instincts, great intelligence, skill, and ruthless passion - she seeks revenge. As the play builds to its horrifying climax, the behaviour of the central characters causes the audience to re-evaluate its sympathies and to question whether revenge can ever be justified.

 Melbourne Rainbow Band Human; Nature
Saturday, 27 May 2017
7:30 PM
The members of the Melbourne Rainbow Band (MRB) would like to invite you to join them as, through music, they explore the power of nature and humanity. Under the baton of Musical Director Tracy Videon, the band will uncover the relationship of human nature to the beauty and power of the natural world.

From conquering the skies with Richard Saucedo’s “Into the Clouds”, to the menacing power of the ocean with John Mackey’s “Undertow”, the first half covers a whole spectrum of nature’s wonders.

In the second half, the Band will turn its attention to various facets of human nature. “The Brave”, by Melbourne composer Brian Hogg is inspired by the efforts of Scottish and Irish settlers. Representing love, the MRB is pleased to premier a new Concertino for Flute and Wind Band by composer Peter Yi-Jen Cheng, based on popular Thai love songs and featuring Sunny Maneesuwan on flute.

The MRB will also be joined by members of the LOW REZ Male Choir in what is sure to be a fantastic evening of music.
